ABOUT THIS ADAPTATION The BASIC code for “The Amorites Are Coming” (a.k.a., “The Exodus Game”) was originally published in J. Conrod, Computer Bible Games (Accent Publications, 1984). The present adaptation is based primarily on the code for the TI-99/4A, with one gameplay element adapted from the TRS-80 Color Computer source, and minor additional adaptations made for gameplay and design. This unofficial, non-commercial HTML browser-based version — v1.8 — is by Andrew Perrin, built with artificial intelligence coding assistance. Past and present versions of the game were adapted in good faith under fair use guidelines for educational, personal, and research purposes. Original BASIC code used with permission by Philip Conrod. All original rights remain with their respective owners.
HOW TO PLAY
> GOAL
  • Lead the Israelites (“I”) from the starting corner to the Promised Land (“P”)
  • Reach it in as few moves as possible, without being driven back too many times
> GAMEPLAY
  • Move north, south, east, or west one step at a time
  • Choose a difficulty from 1 (easy) to 10 (hard) before you begin — harder settings mean more Amorite blocks appear
  • As you travel, Amorite blocks (“AAA”) may appear on the field — more can appear the longer you play
  • Not every Amorite block is actually dangerous, but you can't tell which are safe just by looking
  • Walking into a dangerous block drives you back — you get four such warnings before the journey ends
