ABOUT THIS ADAPTATION The BASIC code for “Helping Moses Find Water” (a.k.a., “Moses' Rod”) was originally published in J. Conrod, Computer Bible Games (Accent Publications, 1984). The present adaptation is based on the code for the TRS-80 Color Computer, with minor adaptations made for gameplay and design. This unofficial, non-commercial HTML browser-based version — v1.4 — is by Andrew Perrin, built with artificial intelligence coding assistance. Past and present versions of the game were adapted in good faith under fair use guidelines for educational, personal, and research purposes. Original BASIC code used with permission by Philip Conrod. All original rights remain with their respective owners.
HOW TO PLAY
> GOAL
  • Move Moses' rod (“/”) around the field to strike the rocks (“O”)
  • Only one rock holds water — find it in as few moves as possible
> GAMEPLAY
  • Choose a difficulty from 1 (easy) to 16 (hard) before you begin — higher difficulty means more rocks scattered on the field
  • Move north, south, east, or west one step at a time — landing exactly on the water rock wins
  • Take too long without finding it, and the rocks will shift — the field re-forms with a new hidden water rock, so don't linger
> GAME DETAILS
  • Original game navigation was made with joystick movements — this version uses an on-screen directional pad, arrow keys, or N/S/E/W keys
  • The original TRS-80 Color Computer screen used a distinct orange background (CLS 8) during gameplay — reflected here as an accent color where possible, approximated in hex from the MC6847 video chip's published color palette
